What Sets Us Apart

Why You Should Join KIPP Philly

We asked our team what makes KIPP Philadelphia a place where they can grow, contribute, and stay. Here is what they told us.

01

Students Come First

From classroom decisions to staffing, programs, and professional goals, we come back to the same question: What is best for students?

02

Joy Is Part of the Work

Black joy and a whole-child approach are part of how we build strong schools. We celebrate identity, academic growth, individuality, and the moments that make school joyful. We chant, we cheer, and we get the work done.

Strong relationships begin when students know the adults around them. We want you to bring your perspective, identity, experience, and strengths to your work.

What We Commit To

Portrait of an Educator

Our Portrait of an Educator defines four commitments for how we show up for students, families, colleagues, and one another. It is written in the first person because every member of our team owns these commitments, no matter their role. It is the adult companion to our Portrait of a Graduate.

Pride: in Self

I lead with self-awareness, integrity, cultural humility, and care for community.

I understand my identity, role, and influence, and I affirm the dignity and belonging of every student, family, and colleague. I build trust through honesty, respect, consistency, and repair when harm occurs.

Pursuit: of Learning

I continuously strengthen my practice, seek feedback, and improve the systems I own.

I build role-specific expertise in instruction, operations, leadership, or regional work, and I use data, reflection, and collaboration to improve outcomes for students and schools.

Perseverance: to Achieve

I take ownership for results, contribute to shared accountability, and persist through complexity.

I prioritize what matters most, set clear goals, and follow through. When outcomes fall short, I respond with urgency and strengthen execution and systems.

Power: of Voice

I use my voice, actions, and partnership to advance equity in service of students.

I listen deeply, elevate student and family perspectives, and partner across teams to build alignment and clarity. I support the growth of others and address bias or inequity when it shows up.

Teacher Induction Program

Our Teacher Induction Program provides first-year teachers with dedicated mentorship, professional learning, and intentional coaching as they build their practice.

Investing in teachers early strengthens our classrooms today and builds a stronger educator pipeline for the future.

Our goal is clear

KIPP Philly should be a place where new teachers can build their craft, receive strong support, and grow into lasting careers in education.

2. Non-Instructional Positions

Integral Roles Beyond the Classroom

Strong schools depend on strong systems.
