Academics

At KIPP Catto, learning is both fun and engaging. We play games with our students to teach them teamwork, critical thinking and just to have fun. We make time for play, both structured and unstructured. Sounds of expression like songs, music, art, laughter, and voices fill our hallways. While learning is both fun and engaging, it is also challenging. Our teachers spend time planning, internalizing, practicing, and examining data so that they walk into class each day intensely prepared to teach students. We teach reading, writing, and math but place equal emphasis on teaching students about the world and about themselves. Our literacy program includes a focus on phonics in early grades, comprehension skills, and time to read independently. In math we use a research-based curriculum that teaches students conceptually. Our schedule also includes time for writing, movement and arts.
