How the New Application Process Works

Philadelphia’s charter school application process has changed. Every family should know:

Apply through Apply Philly Charter (APC)
Submit one application to up to 15 schools.

You will receive one offer
Your child will get an offer from the highest-ranked school on your list with available space.

Rank order matters
If a KIPP Philadelphia Public School is your top choice, ranking your KIPP Philadelphia school of choice #1 gives your child the best chance of receiving an offer.

You can edit your list until January 20
Log in and update your school rankings anytime before the deadline.

Lottery results arrive February 6
Families must accept their offer by February 20.

What Is Single Best Offer?

A fair, citywide system that matches families with their top school choice.

Apply Philly Charter uses Single Best Offer to run all charter school lotteries. Families submit one application and receive one offer based on their ranked preferences and available seats.

How it works:

  • You rank schools in order of preference.
  • The system reviews your list from top to bottom.
  • You receive one offer from the highest-ranked school with available space.
  • If your first choice is full, your next choice is considered automatically.

Why ranking matters: If a KIPP Philadelphia Public School is your top choice, ranking it #1 gives your child the best chance of receiving an offer.
