KIPP Philadelphia’s founding Chief Executive Officer, Marc Mannella, will be stepping down from his role at the end of June. We are so thankful for the devotion and talent Marc has brought to KIPP Philadelphia over the past 15 years. His inspired leadership has transformed KIPP Philadelphia into the thriving school system it is today.
We are thrilled to announce that Jessica Cunningham Akoto will become the new CEO of KIPP Philadelphia, effective June 4, 2018. Jessica is a longtime KIPP leader who brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team. She most recently served as the KIPP Foundation’s Executive in Residence, where she worked as a leadership coach with KIPP school principals in Philadelphia and across the network. Prior to this role, Jessica spent 14 years at KIPP DC, where she served as the region’s Chief Academic Officer, a principal at KIPP DC College Prep high school, and the founding school leader of WILL Academy. Jessica’s skill, passion and leadership earned her the prestigious honor of receiving a national Milken Education Award in 2015.
Jessica is an experienced and innovative leader, and she is fiercely committed to our students, families, staff, and region. With Jessica at the helm, we know that KIPP Philadelphia will continue to thrive.
